Most people have a favourite song. It might remind them of someone or some great event in their lives. Or is might just sum up a time when days were more carefree. Christians have a lot of favourite songs. We call them “Hymns”. While contemporary numbers are the ones we hear most often occasionally an old hymn gets some play. One of the oldest hymns is part of the second reading. It recounts and celebrates how Jesus, who was divine, did not use this as a reason to feel or act “entitled”. Rather, out of humility and His love for us He let go of everything He might have had for Himself. In doing that He met our greatest fear, death, and conquered it! This hymn can celebrate the life of every one of us who follows Jesus faithfully because for faithful people life is “changed” not ended!
