Introduction – Prayers Of The Faithful

Back in the Spring we looked forward to family Easter dinners of home cooked ham. But Covid-19 managed to hogtie those plans. Now as we approach Thanksgiving we would normally think ahead to family dinners and parish suppers of turkey and all the trimmings! This time Covid-19 seems ready to gobble up those plans too!

But St. Paul reminds us of something that most of us already know. He speaks today of knowing times of abundance and times of humility as well as times of being hungry and times of being well fed. Most of us have heard older relatives or friends say “We were poor but we never knew it!”. Somehow parents provided and we have happy memories of times that were not. And, indeed, many of us have faced circumstances that would have broken some people but God gave us the grace and strength we needed, usually through the people He placed in our lives at the time.

Confidence that God will supply what we need (not necessarily what we want) is the wedding garment that always ensures that we will recognize and enjoy the banquet, regardless of what is on the menu!

Christmas Basket Collection

Last weekend we raised $1,530.00 towards our annual Christmas Basket collection.

Please enclose your donations in an envelope marked “Christmas Baskets” and place them in the collection. Please remember to include your name or envelope number on the envelope.

Holy Redeemer will send all of the donations we receive to the Christmas Exchange, who will distribute the funds among the few agencies able to take applications this year.

If you missed our announcement regarding Christmas Baskets, it is available HERE.

2021 Sunday Missals

Reminder: There will be no 2020-2021 Sunday Missals available for sale at the back of the church this fall. We have ordered a LIMITED number of copies which will be available shortly. The cost remains at $5 per copy, which will need to be paid in advance. To reserve your copy, please use the form located HERE. If you know someone without internet access who uses an annual missal, please encourage them to call the parish office (653-6830) soon. Once our initial order is spoken for, we will not be ordering additional copies.

Votive Candles

Reminder: There are no Votive Candles currently available in the church. Current health restrictions prevent people from gathering in front of the votive stands, and from sharing the wooden tapers used to light the candles. If you would like to have a candle lit in the church, please contact the parish office (653-6830 or holyredeemersj@gmail.com) and a member of our staff would be happy to light a candle on your behalf. The suggested donation for each candle is $4, and money can be placed in the collection basket.
